How Can I Tell If My Hair Is Damaged?

There are many tell-tale signs that your hair is feeling the strain and needs some help.  These are the key ones to look out for:

  • Your hair looks and feels dull, brittle and dry.  If your hair has lost its natural shine and is permanently parched and out of control, it’s time to rehydrate it.
  • You’re noticing hair breakage and excess shedding.  While it’s normal to have a few split ends ahead of a trim, if you are noticing your hair breaking it’s a sign it needs help.
  • Your hair gets tangled and knots easily.  Most people shouldn’t need to spend more than a couple of minutes teasing out the tangles after washing.
  • Your hair colour looks dull or turns brassy.  When hair lacks moisture and nutrients it starts to look dull.  Your hair colour pigments can also fade and change colour with sun exposure.
  • Your regular hair care products stop working as they should.  If your regular conditioning products stop working it could be because your hair has become highly porous.  This means damage to the hair cuticle allows the nourishing ingredients of your mask to simply wash away.

Wella Ultimate Repair

Wella Hair Repair Cheshire SalonsThe scientists at Wella have come up with the ultimate solution to fix damaged hair.  New Wella Ultimate Repair is available at all our salons and it’s the ideal hair care system to give your hair a post-summer boost.

Ultimate Repair Miracle Hair Rescue is a luxurious leave-in repair treatment, which offers visible results in just 90 seconds.  Perfect for breathing life back into your straw-like locks.  The range also includes a shampoo and conditioner for you to continue reviving your hair when you wash it at home.

This powerful treatment range has been inspired by the technology used in skin care and includes active ingredients which rebuild the bonds within the hair shaft plus Omega-9 to replenish the outer layer.

Add A Mask To Your Hair Care Routine

Wella Hair Masks Cheshire SalonsA hair mask is like a face mask for your locks!  Hair masks are deep conditioning treatments which offer super-charged results.   Conditioner is your damaged hair’s best friend because it has been stripped of its outer protective layer.  The nourishing ingredients in conditioners and masks help to replenish this.  You should condition after every wash, but once or twice a week you should replace your conditioner with a mask.  You don’t need to use both at the same time as a mask is super nourishing on its own.

We offer masks for every type of hair.  If you have fine hair you may be wary of masks weighing it down and leaving it lank.  In this case we recommend Invigo Volume Boost Crystal Mask.   Likewise, if you have an oily scalp you may be concerned that a mask might make your hair greasy.  We suggest using Wella Elements Purifying Clay Mask, which will soak up excess sebum from the roots leaving you free to condition the strands.  It’s also great for getting rid of product build up.

Speak to your Terence Paul stylist who can recommend the right mask for you and advise on how to get the best from using it.

Refresh Your Hair Colour

Best Hair Colour ManchesterSunshine and environmental damage can leave your hair colour looking dull and faded.  It can also cause your hair to look brassy, with unwanted yellow, red and orange tones showing through.  This occurs when the blue pigments in your hair dye break down more quickly than the rest, allowing your warmer natural tones to show through.  Fortunately there are several things you can do to counter this:

Try a Colour Depositing Hair Mask

Wella Color Fresh masks come in 13 different shades.  They are a pigmented treatment mask which will refresh your hair colour between visits to the salon.  They are packed with nourishing ingredients to boost your hair’s condition too.

Use a Blue Shampoo For Blonde Hair

You can replace the lost blue colour molecules in your hair and dampen down brassiness using a professional quality blue shampoo and conditioner.  Speak to your stylist who can recommend the best one from our Wella range.

Book a Hair Glossing Service

A hair gloss is a subtle colouring and conditioning treatment.  Similar to a toning treatment, it is a demi-permanent colour that infuses your locks with radiance and shine. It’s a quick service which is ideal for refreshing all hair colour shades in between colour appointments, removing brassy tones and creating a subtle tint.

Book a Full Colour Refresh

The start of the autumn term is always a perfect time to review your hair colour and ditch your dull faded summer look.  Book a consultation with your Terence Paul colour technician and we can help you come up with beautiful autumnal colour to revive your hair and leave it looking glossy and shiny again.
